engagement rings?

Just wondering, when two people get engaged, why is it JUST the woman that wears an engagement ring?? Why is this? If i'm wearing a 'taken' ring i would really want my boyfriend/fiance to wear one too and let the whole world know that he is all mine (i mean that in the nicest way possible, not possisive lol honestly i'm not, he's just so darn good looking). Anyway, i think men should wear engagement rings too. p.s. no luck from my boyfriend just yet! I'm genuinly not nagging or anything... just wanna know the history or why this is etc?

  1. Are you planning on buying him an expensive diamond ring? If so, go ahead and give him one. Otherwise, I doubt he's gonna want to buy 2 rings...
  2. It shouldnt matter
  3. I think that is a great idea also, but everything always seems geared towards the women. Even Valentine's Day!
  4. because traditionally women didnt hit on men. It was a womans job to either accept or deny a mans advances. so therefore only a woman would need the ring to let other men know to step off. also i think most men are much to practical to want a diamond ring. They would rather have a a down payment on a new truck or new kitchen appliances instead of using '3 months salary' on an engagement ring.
