What advice do you have for someone wanting to create a custom engagement band?

My boyfriend and I are way under budget for my engagement ring and because the ring I chose is rather simple, we decided to customize the band some. I've heard nothing but horrible things about this process and so I wondered if it's even worth it? What advice do you have for someone choosing to do a custom ring? Specifically, I'm working with Jared Jewelers. My ring is a pave setting with an aquamarine. I'm wanting to get some intricate designs, viewed from the side of the ring and a better design along the actual setting.

  1. get something meaningful to you...and your fiance...and also make sure it's something you'll always remember and like for years to come. Not jsut something that looks good to you now. Congrats!! Make sure it'll be lasting and will mean something to you forever.
  2. Talking to the professionals is always one of the best ways to solve the question. If there are a couple rings that you like try to integrate the look into one. Vintage intricate designs are always something to look into for something truelly unique and different compared to the usual solid diamond ban. The process shouldnt go bad if the professional your working with is doing everything they can to fill you in on what is going to be the end result of your design. Don't sweat designing too much you will find the perfect design together when it comes.
