engagement rings?

My boyfriend & I are to go engagement ring shopping this weekend. I have no idea what I want. Any ideas of what type of engagement rings are hot? Or pics of rings, or cool websites? I am open for all suggestions! Thanks!

  1. just see what hits you when you're looking....you'll want every one you see. but do shop around ...don't settle for the first jewelery store.
  2. Well, I would just go with something you like. What is hot today may be out tomorrow so it should be something you will be happy with for the rest of your life. If you want something more unique, look at stones other than diamonds. There are so many colors of precious and semi-precious stones just choosing a different type of stone would make it more special.
  3. You'll know it once you see it, but more than likely he'll probably buy the ring another time. This is for him to know what kind of ring do you like, my fiance did the same thing to me. Shop around. Congratulations, and Good Luck
  4. You definitely need to try things on - try not to lock yourself into one specific style right away. Try on all the shapes, solitaires, sidestones, etc. If you want to get some preliminary ideas, check these out: http://www.bluenile.com/engagement_segment.asp?track=row_mod1&elem=miniheroHdr This is some really good buying advice: http://jewelry.about.com/od/engagementrings/ss/buying_advice.htm http://www.bluenile.com/engagement_choose_ring.asp http://www.adiamondisforever.com/ring/settings.html Now if you want to go REALLY indepth, you can check out some of the following sites about cut, color, clarity, etc. However, this can be really overwhelming, especially for your first time out. If you really don't know what you want, stick with just picking out rings that appeal to you and trying them on. Once you narrow down your preferences, you can get more indepth: Diamond Shapes: http://jewelry.about.com/od/engagementrings/ss/diamond_shapes.htm Diamond Cuts: http://jewelry.about.com/od/diamondshapes/ss/cutting_styles.htm
  5. OOO, let him do the shopping! There is something SO special about getting a ring which the man you love has chosen for you!
  6. You should think about what kind of ring YOU want. Do you like diamonds? Rubies? Your birthstone? Gold? Silver? Platinum? What looks best on you? Also, what other kinds of jewelry do you have, because it'll need to look good with all the rest. Personally, my engagement ring was a simple band with a celtic knot pattern. I don't like gemstones, and so it was perfect for me and exactly what I wanted.
  7. My fiance and I got all 3 of our rings from Zales. They have a website, are high quality, and for the amount of diamonds and gold, we got an awesome deal. They are also having sales and stuff right now for Mother's Day. My engagement ring has 3 good sized diamonds and 6 smaller ones in the band, total of 1/2 ct, and we only paid 300 for it. They have bigger stuff, too, depending on your budget.
  8. diamonds with colored stones are hot! my fiance got me a sapphire and diamond engagement ring that looks like nicole richie's ring (except it's a cushion-cut blue sapphire in deep blue). but of course, diamonds are a classic trend thing that would never go away. so just keep on browsing sites and never settle on the first store!
